I’m extremely proud to work in partnership with Lingen Davies Cancer Support, the main cancer charity dedicated to supporting people living in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales.
Through this partnership, I provide free, confidential counselling for adults aged 18 and over who are caring for someone with cancer. This could be a family member, a partner, friend or another person close to someone living with cancer.
We understand that when someone close to you is facing cancer, your world changes too.
You may feel overwhelmed, isolated, angry, anxious, depressed, or invisible. It’s vital to remember that you matter, and your wellbeing is just as important.
Counselling provides a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about how you are feeling, without having to put on a brave face. It’s a place where you can feel heard and supported, helping you support the person you care about.
What support is available?
Counselling is fully funded by Lingen Davies Cancer Support, so there is no cost to you. You can access up to eight counselling sessions, provided face-to-face at The Hamar Centre, Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, or remotely online or by telephone.
Who is eligible?
You are eligible if:
- You are aged 18 and over.
- You are caring for (looking after) someone living with cancer as a family member, partner, friend, or another close person.
- Both the carer and person with cancer live in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, or Mid Wales.
- To the best of your knowledge, you are the only family member, partner or friend connected to the person living with cancer to be referred for counselling through this project. To protect confidentiality and avoid conflicts of interest, counselling can only be provided to one carer for each person living with cancer.
Spaces are limited, so if we can’t fit you in initially, we will add you to a waiting list, and we will also discuss other options that are available through our referral partner to help get the support you need while you wait.

I aim to respond to all enquiries within two working days. If I’m away on annual leave or unavailable due to illness my voicemail and out-of-office email will let you know when you can expect to hear from me.
