I work in partnership with Lingen Davies Cancer Support which is the main cancer charity dedicated to supporting people living in Shropshire, Telford, and Mid Wales as they deal with the impact of the disease on their lives.
This partnership means that counselling will be provided specifically for people aged 18 and over who are acting as a carer to someone with cancer. This includes family, a partner, friends or another close person of those living with the disease with the charity regularly receiving feedback that there is a gap for this kind of provision in the region.
Counselling support is provided for up to eight sessions and is entirely funded by Lingen Davies which means there is no cost to the client. Sessions are provided at The Hamar Centre, Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for adults who would like support with the mental and emotional impact of caring for someone with cancer.
People living in Shropshire, Telford, and Mid Wales can self-refer via this website and and we are also providing information about the service to relevant partners such as the Macmillan Advice Centre, carers centres, health professionals and community networks.
